The Family Life Education Resource Centre (thereafter refers as FLERC) was established in 1979 with the aim to support social workers, social service agencies and registered non-profit charitable organizations through the development of publications and audio-visual resources to implement family life education (FLE).


FLERC has a staff of registered social workers who are responsible for resources development and promotion of FLE as well as clerical workers.

  1. Development of FLE Resources

    Following the advice of the Working Group on FLE Resource Development, FLERC develops an assortment of resources for members (social service agencies and registered non-profit charitable organizations) to run FLE activities. The resources include audio–visual equipment, DVDs, VCDs, CDs, CD-ROMs, teaching kits, light exhibition boards (including pull-up banners), pamphlets and books, covering topics on personal growth and development, family roles and relationships, interpersonal communication, housekeeping, sex education and mental health as well as special issues of domestic violence, divorce, single parenthood, prevention of juvenile delinquency and adjustment of new arrivals.

  2. Promotion of FLE

    FLERC delivers FLE to the public through the internet (website of FLERC www.flerc.swd.gov.hk and Related Links ), mass media (co-ordinate social workers of FLE service units to write featured articles in magazines and newspapers) alongside publications and distribution of booklets / leaflets and relevant information.

  3. Loan Service of Resources

    Books, teaching kits, audio-visual materials and equipment as well as the exhibition boards are available for loan to members for free. Members can search, and/or reserve and renew the resources online or visit in person. For details, please refer to Introduction on Resources Loan System .

  4. Library Service

    The FLERC library has a collection of books, newspapers, periodicals, magazines, research reports and reference materials related to FLE for the in-house reading of members. (Note: Books are available for loan)

  5. E-Resources

    The FLERC website has a range of FLE e-resources, including Pamphlets Highlights and e-Resource (both are available for download), Audio-video (microfilms) , Articles , FAQs [Frequently Asked Questions with suggested answer (Chinese version only)] and Books Highlights .

  6. Promotion of the Latest FLE Activities

    The FLERC website has uploaded the latest FLE activities organized by the service units of FLERC agency members, including Integrated Family Service Centres, FLE service units and other registered non-profit charitable organizations, in New Events for public information and direct enrollment with the service units.
